Robinhood opens Canada office in Toronto
Even as the US and Canada become mired in an ever expanding trade and tariffs war that has cooled business relations between the two neighbors, US neobroker Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) has announced that it has opened its new Canadian headquarters in downtown Toronto, with the capacity to nearly double its Canadian workforce.
Acquisition of WonderFi
The move follows the close of the acquisition of WonderFi by Robinhood, and the recent launch of the Robinhood Canada app. After growing its local workforce to over 200 employees, Robinhood said it looks forward to continued expansion into the Canadian market.
Johann Kerbrat, SVP & GM of Robinhood Crypto and International said,
“Opening our new Toronto office is a milestone for Robinhood. This office is a testament to the incredible talent in Canada and our dedication to providing Canadian investors with access to world-class financial tools.”
Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade said,
“Having first engaged with Robinhood during our trade and investment mission to San Francisco earlier this year, today’s grand opening demonstrates the importance of cultivating a competitive business environment and the opportunities that can result from showcasing our province’s talent and industry strengths on the world stage. We congratulate the team on this incredible milestone and look forward to seeing Robinhood’s growing presence in Toronto reinforce their success in one of North America’s most dynamic financial technology markets.”
Robinhood in Canada
Since Robinhood Canada launched on July 1, Canadians have been able to trade and own more than 50 cryptocurrencies on a single, unified platform, funding their accounts instantly with Interac e-Transfers or wires and trading with native CAD pairs to avoid hidden foreign exchange markups.
The platform has some of the most competitive trading fees in the country, with a 0% trading fee promotion running until September 30th. As a CIRO-registered investment dealer via CCML, Robinhood Canada gives investors the same regulatory protections they’d expect from a traditional brokerage.
Chris Pollock, GM of Robinhood Canada said,
“As we continue to grow, our focus remains on bringing competitive products and transparent services to our users. We are excited to work closely with the local community as we build the future of finance.”
That community commitment includes a new partnership with ABC Life Literacy Canada, a national charity that has championed adult literacy since 1990. Robinhood is helping expand their financial literacy programming — which has already reached over 125,000 learners — with new French and English curricula to help more Canadians build on the basics of budgeting and saving with lessons that will help learners make the most out of their money.
Alison Howard, Executive Director of ABC Life Literacy Canada says,
“Financial literacy is an essential life skill for adults to make informed decisions about managing their money. We are grateful for the support of Robinhood Markets to help us expand our financial literacy programming to create free resources and present free workshops to help adult learners across Canada improve their skills and financial confidence.”

Today’s office opening reflects Robinhood’s confidence in the long-term potential of the Canadian market, and the company remains focused on building the tools that help everyday Canadians access global financial markets.
