OANDA Japan to implement mandatory multi-factor authentication for withdrawals
OANDA Japan Inc, a subsidiary of online broker OANDA Corporation, will implement mandatory multi-factor authentication for withdrawal requests and withdrawal account registration/changes.
The change is made in response to frequent cases of unauthorized access and impersonation transactions due to the theft of customer information (IDs, passwords, etc.) through phishing and malware.
After the maintenance session scheduled for Saturday, December 13th, clients of the broker will be required to enter a one-time code generated by “Google Authenticator” when requesting a withdrawal or registering/changing a withdrawal account.
Once you have completed your withdrawal request or registration/change of your withdrawal account on My Page, the one-time code entry screen will be displayed.
Open the “Google Authenticator” app and enter the displayed six-digit number to proceed.
OANDA Japan explains that it will continue to strengthen security, including via the introduction of stronger authentication using passkeys by 2026.
The broker has already made multi-factor authentication compulsory for logging into client accounts.
