IG Japan announces changes to accounts for trading ETFs
IG Securities, the Japanese subsidiary of electronic trading major IG Group, plans to disable trading of certain ETFs via individual stock accounts.
Effective mid-October, display of eligible ETFs in individual stock accounts will be discontinued. New orders will not be accepted, but existing positions can be settled from the position list tab.
After the change, trading in eligible ETFs can be done via Variety (VIX, etc.) accounts and Stock Index accounts.
Effective end-November 2025, trading of eligible ETFs in individual stock accounts will be completely discontinued.
If there are any open positions for eligible ETFs after the closing date for settlement orders, IG will settle them based on the closing price at the end of November 2025. All pending orders will be deleted at the same time.
The detailed list of eligible ETFs and the specific implementation schedule will be provided in due course.
IG Japan commented:
“This change is intended to improve the investment environment for our customers. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding”.
