FX week in review: Q3 results (Plus500, CFI, XTB), Management changes (GTCFX, ICM, ADSS…), Binance heist
This week’s top online trading sector stories can be divided (mainly) into two categories – results, and executive moves.
Continuing a theme we’ve been covering lately, the CFDs business has been a very haves versus have-nots story. Q3 2026 was record breaking (in a good way) or strong overall for some brokers, but not-so-good for others.
The week ended with a record heist at leading crypto exchange Binance, with $6.3 billion gone after the company’s systems were hacked – leaving many in the online trading business asking questions about the security of brokers (and client funds) overall.

Top FX and CFDs industry news stories this week
Plus500 registers 11% Y/Y increase in revenue in Q3 2026. Online brokerage Plus500 Ltd (LON:PLUS) today provided a trading update for the three-month period ended 30 September 2026. Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 increased by 11% to $666.1m (YTD 2025: $597.8m). Reflecting the strong financial performance and meaningful strategic progress in the first nine months of 2026, the Board expects that FY 2026 revenue and EBITDA will be ahead of current market expectations.
CFI sees record trading volumes of $3.45 trillion in Q3 2026. Leading online trading provider CFI Financial Group has announced that it recorded notional trading volume of USD $3.45 trillion in Q3 2026, the highest in its history. Volume more than doubled year on year, increasing approximately 123%, while rising a further 14% quarter on quarter. This marks CFI’s 11th consecutive announced quarter of record trading volume. Quarterly volume has also nearly tripled since early 2025, reflecting the continued expansion and growing scale of the business across its markets.
XTB reports slow Q3 2026: Revenues ($158M) down 37%, Profit ($54M) down 57%. Poland based CFDs broker XTB SA (WSE:XTB) has reported its financial results for Q3 2026, indicating a fairly major drop-off on both the top and bottom line, for the second consecutive quarter. Client trading volumes at XTB came in at $341 billion monthly in Q3 2026, virtually identical to $343 billion monthly in Q2 (although down from $444 billion monthly in Q1). However profitability per USD 1 million traded fell precipitously, to $133 in Q3 versus $238 in Q2 (and $216 in Q1).
Binance hack update: $6.34B of company funds reserved to cover the “incident”. Crypto exchange Binance has issued a number of updates on the $6.3 crypto heist that occurred overnight Thursday when its systems were hacked. The updates seem to be centered on assuring Binance clients that their individual holdings are safe, although the company has halted withdrawals for what looks like will be an extended period, likely (at least) 48 hours.
iSAM Securities Apex integrates Scope Prime liquidity. London based prime-of-prime broker and liquidity solutions provider iSAM Securities has announced that its Apex multi-asset broker platform has integrated with Scope Prime, giving brokers access to Scope Prime’s institutional liquidity – including 24/7 gold, silver, oil and selected equities – through Apex’s ultra-low-latency execution platform.
