FX week in review: New hires at INFINOX, Eurotrader, TeraExchange
It was a fairly quiet end-of-the-summer-season week in the online trading world, with many folks enjoying a last few days of vacation ahead of back-to-school (and work) processions next week.
But there was still some news to report, in particular FX industry executive moves by a few known names and companies, including a new CEO at a CySEC-licensed Retail FX broker.

Eurotrader hires FX industry vet Marcelo Spina as CEO. Cyprus based multi-asset broker Eurotrader Group has announced that it has hired Marcelo Spina as its new CEO. Marcelo Spina was VP Sales at FXCM from 2005-2008, before jumping to rival Forex.com where he worked as Senior Vice President and Head of Partnerships until 2017. He then spent two years at Saxo Bank (2017-2019); served as Global Head of Partnerships at FXTM (2019); and Global Head of Business Development at ThinkMarkets (2019-2020). The past two years Mr. Spina ran his own FX brokerage consultancy.
INFINOX hires FX industry veteran Sophie Squillacioti to head Asia business. Global trading platform INFINOX has announced the hiring of seasoned trading industry exec Sophie Squillacioti as the company’s new Head of Asia. She will be responsible for helming INFINOX’s fast-growing business across the region, including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and other key markets. Sophie Squillacioti brings with her two decades of industry and management experience. Prior to joining INFINOX, she served as Head of Asia at BDSwiss, and also spent time at BlackBull Markets as Managing Director, China.
Exclusive: Former Nadex chief Tim McDermott named CEO of SEF TeraExchange. FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that swap execution facility (SEF) TeraExchange has hired Tim McDermott as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Tim McDermott was CEO of regulated binary options exchange Nadex from 2014-2019, having first joined Nadex in 2008 as General Counsel and Chief Regulatory Officer. He also served as a Director and Compliance Counsel at the CME (then known as Chicago Mercantile Exchange) from 2003-2007, following a career in law.
Hantec Markets sponsors Haas F1 Team. Retail FX and CFDs broker Hantec Markets has announced a new partnership to be the official online trading partner with Haas F1 Team before this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. What the company termed a “multi-million pound contract” runs through the 2023 F1 season. Hantec Markets’ brand logo will adorn the Haas race car on the nose of the car, and include full branding in the Haas team garage. The Hantec logo will also be featured on the uniforms of Haas drivers Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen.
