SEC obtains final judgments against three defendants in insider trading case
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has secured final judgments as to three defendants in an insider trading case.
On June 24, 2025, Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil of the New York Southern District Court signed judgments against Stephen A. Forlano, Christopher Salamone, and Nathan Bleckley.
Let’s recall that, back in September 2023, the SEC filed charges against Anthony Viggiano, a former analyst at a major investment firm and later at an international investment bank, and Christopher Salamone, Stephen A. Forlano, and Nathan Bleckley, for insider trading in advance of numerous merger and acquisition transactions.
Now, according to the final judgments, Christopher Salamone is liable for disgorgement of $287,596, representing net profits gained as a result of the conduct alleged in the Complaint. This obligation will be deemed satisfied by entry of the order of forfeiture in a related criminal case.
Nathan Bleckley is liable for disgorgement of $24,738, representing net profits gained as a result of the conduct alleged in the Complaint. The Court finds that sending the disgorged funds to the United States Treasury is consistent with equitable principles. Defendant will satisfy this obligation by paying $24,738 to the Securities and Exchange Commission within 30 days after the entry of the Final Judgment.
Stephen A. Forlano is permanently restrained and enjoined from violating, directly or indirectly, Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (the “Exchange Act”) [15 U.S.C. § 78j(b)] and Rule 10b-5 promulgated thereunder [17 C.F.R. § 240.10b-5], by using any means or instrumentality of interstate commerce, or of the mails, or of any facility of any national securities exchange, in connection with the purchase or sale of any security.
The defendant is liable for disgorgement of $113,588, representing net profits gained as a result of the conduct alleged in the Complaint. This obligation will be deemed satisfied by entry of the order of forfeiture in a related criminal case.
