TradingView expands volume coverage to include additional NSE stock indices
TradingView has expanded volume coverage to include a wide range of additional NSE stock indices, making it easier to analyze sectoral activity, broader market participation, and intraday dynamics, all directly from charts.
On TradingView, volume data has already been available for India’s two most actively followed indices: Nifty 50 and Nifty Bank Index.
Since NSE does not provide official volume figures for indices, TradingView implemented a transparent, rules-based calculation methodology.
Index volume is calculated as the sum of the trading volumes of all index components relevant on the calculation date:
- Daily resolution: the index volume equals the sum of daily volumes of all constituent stocks
- Intraday (minute-based) resolutions: the volume is calculated as the sum of component volumes for each corresponding minute
- Other resolutions are aggregated using the same logic
If the index composition changes, the volume calculation automatically adjusts to reflect the updated set of components.
This approach ensures consistency across timeframes and allows you to analyze index activity with the same confidence as individual stocks.
In addition to Nifty 50 (NSE:NIFTY) and Nifty Bank Index (NSE:BANKNIFTY), volume data is now available for the following NSE indices:
