ACCC allows collaboration for cash-in-transit initiatives
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a final determination with conditions for the Australian Banking Association (ABA) and other industry participants to develop ways to ensure the continued distribution of cash across Australia, and to collaborate on business continuity measures.
The ACCC has granted authorisation with reporting and transparency conditions, and a condition requiring the ABA to conduct reasonable consultation on cash-in-transit initiatives prior to any in-principle agreement.
The Commission considers that, with the conditions, the conduct is likely to result in a public benefit and that this public benefit would outweigh any likely public detriment.
The authorisation is granted until 31 December 2026.
