Institutional FX trading volumes slow a seasonal 14% in December 2022
Capping off what was otherwise a fairly strong year for leading institutional eFX venues, trading volumes cooled somewhat in December – as is usual during the holiday-filled month.
Overall, institutional FX trading volumes declined in December 2022 by 14% MoM, with each of Cboe FX, EuronextFX, FXSpotStream and 360T posting activity declines of between 9% and 16% as compared to November. But overall, activity was up nicely in the 25% range from the previous year.
Cboe FX (formerly HotspotFX)
- December 2022 average daily volumes were $35.14 billion, -16% from November’s $41.88 billion.
EuronextFX (formerly FastMatch)
- December 2022 ADV $17.93 billion, -15% from November’s ADV of $21.08 billion.
FXSpotStream
- FXSpotStream’s ADV YoY (December’22 vs December‘21) increased 34.29% to USD57.602billion.
- FXSpotStream’s ADV MoM (December‘22 vs November’22) decreased 14.38%.
- FXSpotStream’s Overall Volume YoY (December‘22 vs December‘21) increased 28.45% to USD1.267trillion.
360T
- Average daily volumes (ADV) at 360T came in at $22.54 billion in December 2022, down 9% from November’s $24.79 billion.
