Institutional FX trading volumes slow 1% in September 2024
Despite record trading volumes seen at FXSpotStream, September 2024 saw mixed results at leading eFX trading providers, averaging a 1.2% decline in activity as volatility waned in the currency markets last month.
Cboe FX (formerly HotspotFX)
- September 2024 average daily volumes were $46.70 billion, -6.4% from August’s $49.88 billion.
EuronextFX (formerly FastMatch)
- September 2024 ADV $27.58 billion, -5.0% from August’s ADV of $29.03 billion.
FXSpotStream
- In September FXSpotStream crossed the USD100billion mark in terms of overall ADV for the first time in the company’s history. September’s overall ADV of USD101.925billion is the sixth overall ADV record set this year and marks a 5.3% increase over the previous record set last month. While Spot saw a slight dip MoM, with an ADV of USD72.020billion, ‘Other’ products amassed an ADV of USD29.904billion, a new high on the Service. YTD, FXSpotStream’s overall ADV is USD88.112billion and represents a 42.7% increase over the same period last year (Jan-Sep).
- FXSpotStream’s Total ADV MoM (Sep’24 vs Aug’24) increased 5.30%.
- FXSpotStream’s Total ADV YoY (Sep’24 vs Sep’23) increased 54.45%.
- FXSpotStream’s Spot ADV MoM (Sep’24 vs Aug’24) decreased 1.56%.
- FXSpotStream’s Spot ADV YoY (Sep’24 vs Sep’23) increased 37.96%.
- FXSpotStream’s Other ADV MoM (Sep’24 vs Aug’24) increased 26.54%.
- FXSpotStream’s Other ADV YoY (Sep’24 vs Sep’23) increased 116.92%.

- Average daily volumes (ADV) at 360T came in at $31.46 billion in September 2024, up 1.4% from August’s $31.03 billion.
