Exclusive: XTX Markets names Gabriele Papievyte to head Ventures unit
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that London based XTX Markets, one of the world’s leading market makers and algo trading firms, has tapped Gabriele Papievyte to head its internal venture capital arm called, appropriately, XTX Ventures.
Gabriele Papievyte joined XTX Ventures as an Investment Manager mid last year. Previously she was an Investment Associate at Canadian venture capital firm Inovia Capital.
XTX Ventures was established in 2017 but was only unveiled by the company in 2020, headed by former Deutsche Bank corporate strategy executive Ekaterina Holt, who left the group in 2021. The VC arm of XTX Markets invests mainly in early stage companies with machine learning as a core technology, typically Seed to Series A stage. While XTX Ventures usually writes checks in the order of £500k – £5 million, it also is mandated to make larger / later stage investments that are deemed strategic to XTX Markets’ role as a liquidity provider. To date, XTX Ventures has listed investments in 27 portfolio companies.
