Exclusive: Pepperstone hires IG’s Lawrence Jones as Head of Digital Marketing
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that leading Australia based Retail FX and CFDs broker Pepperstone has hired Lawrence Jones as the company’s new Head of Digital Marketing.
Lawrence Jones is replacing Marco Ma, who is leaving Pepperstone after less than a year with the company. He will be reporting to Pepperstone CMO Tony Gruebner, whom we reported joined the company late last year from Sportsbet, Australia’s leading sports betting site.
The new role, despite being a senior marketing position for the globally-minded Pepperstone, is temporary given that Lawrence Jones is based in London and Pepperstone (and the team he will be heading) are based mainly in Melbourne, Australia. We understand that Mr. Jones is being brought in to help review and improve Pepperstone’s overall digital marketing footprint – the lifeblood of many-a Forex broker.
Lawrence Jones spent the last six years at leading UK online retail broker IG Group, leading IG’s global display advertising effort. Before joining IG in 2015 he worked at Google as YouTube Media Coordinator EMEA, and then at media agency Essence which handled the marketing for Google’s Chrome in the UK.
Pepperstone has been increasing its presence outside of its home market of Australia over the past couple of years. As was exclusively reported at FNG in November, Pepperstone opened a new operation in Cyprus, headed by former Forex Club, FxPro, and TFI Markets executive Victor Zachariades. The company also set up shop recently in Kenya, Germany, and Dubai.
FNG spoke with Lawrence Jones about his move to Pepperstone. He noted:
“While I am very proud of what my team and I accomplished at IG, I am excited to join Pepperstone and help the company continue on its growth trajectory.
I believe that I can help Pepperstone optimize its digital footprint as the company seeks to become a leader in a number of online trading markets worldwide.”
