LoopFX appoints General Counsel and Head of Marketing
FX liquidity network LoopFX has announced two senior appointments as it gears up to go live this month.

Jonathan Avery has joined as General Counsel, bringing deep legal and operational expertise to support and accelerate the onboarding process for banks and asset managers. Mr Avery has decades of experience as a trading and derivatives lawyer, including senior roles at Citigroup, Standard Life and Aberdeen, where he served as Global Head of Trading Documentation.

LoopFX has also appointed Malcolm Cox as fractional Head of Marketing. Mr Cox has more than 30 years of marketing leadership experience, with a proven track record in building high-growth businesses through brand development, strategic positioning, and product-led marketing. He was CMO of UK adtech firm Grapeshot, which was sold to Oracle in 2018 for $325m. His arrival strengthens LoopFX’s go-to-market capabilities as its matching engine prepares to go live.
Blair Hawthorne, Founder and CEO of LoopFX, said:
“With the growing number of partners we’re onboarding, now is the right time to bring Jon into the team as our General Counsel. He’s highly regarded and trusted across the market, with decades of experience from top-tier institutions. As we launch, we are also expanding our marketing efforts, with Malcolm joining from outside the banking world, bringing fresh perspective and real authenticity to how we present LoopFX in the market. It’s different – and it aligns with how we like to do things at LoopFX.”
These new hires follow the 2024 appointment of Peter Khadder as Head of Trading. Mr Khadder spent 15 years as an FX voice trader at HSBC and Standard Chartered, with experience in both New York and London. He brings deep technical insight into how banks manage risk and how clients manage large trades. At LoopFX, he is focused on managing liquidity into the LoopFX matching engine, working with buy-side and sell-side participants to optimise match behaviours.
This growth represents another important step forward for LoopFX, underpinned by strong financial investment which includes £2.6 million investment from Augmentum Fintech Plc.
LoopFX also benefits from the guidance of an exceptional Board comprising: John Sievwright (Chairman of Burford and Board Member of Revolut), Martin Gilbert (Chairman of Revolut and Founder of Aberdeen Asset), Tim Levene (CEO of Augmentum and Alderman in the City of London), Ivan Ritossa (Member of Barclays Capital Executive Committee), Mike Soutar (Member of the Government’s Board of Trade and media personality from The Apprentice), and Tim Ewington (co-founder of Shortlist Media).
