Linda Yueh joins Standard Chartered Governance and Nomination Committee
Standard Chartered PLC today announced that Dr Linda Yueh, independent non-executive director succeeds Jasmine Whitbread as Chair of the Company’s Culture and Sustainability Committee and also joins its Governance and Nomination Committee, both with immediate effect.
Jasmine Whitbread retires from the Board with effect from today, 3 May 2023.
Dr Linda Yueh was appointed an independent non-executive director of Standard Chartered PLC and the Court of Standard Chartered Bank in January 2023.
She is a renowned economist and financial broadcaster with a diverse range of skills and experience across financial services, technology, not-for-profit and business to business service sectors.
Dr Linda Yueh has held various academic roles and acted in various advisory roles after starting her career as a corporate lawyer at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. She was Economics Editor at Bloomberg News from 2010 to 2012 and Chief Business Correspondent for the BBC between 2013 and 2015. She was a Visiting Professor at LSE IDEAS at the London School of Economics and Political Science from 2019 to 2022 and served on the Independent Review Panel on Ring-Fencing and Proprietary Trading for HM Treasury.
Between 2011 and 2013, Linda Yueh held non-executive directorships with Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust Plc, London & Partners Ltd and JPMorgan Asia Growth & Income Plc. She was Senior Independent Director of Fidelity China Special Situations Plc from 2019 before stepping down in December 2022. Linda has been awarded a CBE for Services to Economics in the New Year Honours List of 2023.
