Exclusive: Saxo UK hires BofA Merrill Lynch exec Simon Camilleri as COO
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned from inside sources that longtime Bank of America Merrill Lynch executive Simon Camilleri has left the company, and will shortly be joining Retail FX and CFDs broker Saxo Bank in London, as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Saxo’s UK operation.
He will also be joining the Board of Directors of Saxo’s FCA licensed entity in the UK, Saxo Capital Markets UK Ltd.
We expect the company to make a formal announcement on the matter shortly.
Simon Camilleri had been with BofA Merrill Lynch for 18 years, joining in 2004 (when it was just known as Merrill Lynch) as a Business Support Manager in Merrill’s Global Wealth Management arm. He was named Director and COO of the firm’s Global Rates Trading unit in 2015.
Mr. Camilleri will effectively be replacing the role of Peter Morris, who left Saxo UK this summer after less than a year in the COO role, as was also exclusively reported at the time by FNG.
Saxo UK is run by former Credit Suisse Managing Director Charles White-Thomson. Parent company Saxo Bank, based in Copenhagen, recently announced plans to go public on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange, via a SPAC merger. The Saxo Bank group is controlled by Chinese conglomerate Geely Group.
