Exclusive: Saxo Bank CCO Stig Christensen departs
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Saxo Bank Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Stig Christensen has left the company.
Stig Christensen, who had been with Saxo Bank for 10 years in the online broker’s Copenhagen headquarters, first joined in 2016 as Chief Human Resources Officer, and transitioned to Chief Sales Officer in 2020. In 2024 he was named Chief Commercial Officer.
The move comes as a number of longtime senior Saxo Bank executives have left the company over the past number of months, ahead of the completion of Saxo Bank’s sale to the Safra Group. Announced early last year, the deal is expected to close during 2026. Other executives leaving Saxo have included Customer Director Thomas Dam, Saxo UK’s Dan Squires (to become CCO at ADSS), Asia marketing head Nicolò Pagliari, and UK marketing head Anaam Raza.
Stig posted the following note on social media regarding his departure from Saxo Bank.
THANK YOU!
This autumn, after a lot of careful consideration I decided to step down and resign from my position as Chief Commercial Officer with Saxo Bank A/S.
The past 10 years with Saxo have been very rewarding and also very demanding and I am eternally grateful for all the opportunities and challenges this organisation, and in particular Kim Fournais have given me. I have never learned so much, worked so hard and felt more accomplished and I had the privilege of working with the best and most clever people – think about that 😊.
It is with an immense sense of gratitude and fulfillment that I look back on more than 41 years as an executive and professional with Carlsberg Group, Mirrorman, Russell Reynolds Associates and Saxo Bank Bank. So many meaningful encounters, so many remarkable people that have been part of shaping me personally and professionally and so many challenging situations, that have helped me mature and learn – difficult to comprehend.
Many of you have asked; “What’s next?”, and for the first time in my life, my only plan is not to have a plan. My wife thinks I spend too much time reading newspapers and tracking on Strava 🚴♂️… and she is probably right.
Now, I will wait and see what happens next – without timelines, deadlines or any anticipations whatsoever – just being open to what comes 😊.
Until then thank you and take good care of yourselves… and spend a bit more time reflecting – I haven’t done that enough ❤️.
