Exclusive: FXCM Data Science and BI head Darren Merwitz departs
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Darren Merwitz, one of the longest serving executives at Retail FX and CFDs broker FXCM, has left the company.
Darren Merwitz had been with FXCM, a unit of Jefferies Financial Group Inc (NYSE:JEF), for more than 23 years. He initially joined in 2002 as Vice President System Trading in New York, where he set up FXCM’s System Trading department, developing tools for managing and hosting internal and customer-owned automated trading strategies.
In 2010 Darren moved to Sydney as Vice President Pricing and Execution Analytics for FXCM, and then in 2020 he was promoted to Managing Director of Data Science and Analytics at FXCM (a role he also filled for FXCM’s sister trading platform unit Tradu), responsible for building, leading and empowering the Data Science, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing functions at FXCM and at Tradu.
Darren posted the following note on LinkedIn regarding his departure from FXCM.
Today was the first day in nearly 25 years that I didn’t log into my FXCM computer. Strange doesn’t quite cover it.
Friday was my last day, but it wasn’t until today that it really sank in. After almost a quarter of a century, not logging in felt surreal.
Spending 24 years at one company, most would assume doing the same thing year after year. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The business was constantly changing, my roles continuously evolved, and there was never a shortage of new challenges or opportunities.
To everyone I’ve had the privilege of working with throughout the FXCM journey, past and present, thank you! The people made the experience what it was, and it was one hell of a ride.
