Exclusive: FXCM CIO Ryan Leonard departs
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that longtime FXCM Chief Information Officer (CIO) Ryan Leonard has resigned from the company.
Also leaving FXCM is Mr. Leonard’s “number two” in overseeing FXCM’s IT infrastructure, Seth Lyons. Mr. Lyons was Director of Production Engineering at FXCM, also overseeing Information Security. The two will be joining forces to start a new independent IT/InfoSec consulting venture.
Ryan Leonard had been with FXCM for 17 years, and was the company’s CIO for most of them. Seth Lyons actually joined FXCM a few months before Mr. Leonard, in mid 2005.
FXCM is a Leucadia Company, part of Jefferies Financial (NYSE:JEF).
Ryan Leonard posted the following note on social media regarding his departure:
Last week was the end of a 17.5 year run at FXCM. It has been an amazing time. Special shout out to Eduard Yusupov, Drew Niv, David Sakhai, and William Ahdout for originally entrusting a 20-something year old nerd with a whole bunch of responsibility; and Brandon Palmer for being the unsung mentor and OG.
For all the other people that have been integral to our careers up to this point (and weren’t on the email), below is what we sent:
—
Subject: Farewell from Ryan & SethI want to start by saying that I hate these emails; but after almost over 36 years between the two of us, and countless memories, it seemed wrong to just disappear…
For those of you who we haven’t spoken directly with, Seth and I will be leaving FXCM this week to do some independent IT/InfoSec consulting. Both of us actually started our careers here; and the time is right, for us, for the team, to say goodbye. We have an amazing team, and under the leadership of Mark and Erik, they are destined for amazing things.
This has been much more than a job; marriages, kids, lifelong friends, and rapidly approaching half our lives have been with FXCM. We will be forever grateful for the chances that were taken to get to this place; sorry for the poorly written note, but in our defense we kinda always assumed we would get fired :]
