Exclusive: Commerzbank Head of eFX Sales Peter Hahn retires
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Peter Hahn, one of the longest serving FX industry executives anywhere, has left Commerzbank after an astounding 45 year career at the company.
Peter Hahn joined Commerzbank in 1977, and has worked for the German banking firm in the Netherlands, USA, and Luxembourg, although for most of his career he has been based at the company’s headquarters in Frankfurt.
Mr. Hahn had several roles at Commerzbank, from starting in FX Corporate Sales, then Trading Spot, Forwards and Options in Germany, Chicago and Amsterdam. He went to the bank’s Deutsche Terminbörse Department in the early 90s doing Derivatives Sales of Stock Options and Bund Futures & Options. After four years he headed back into FX Corporate Sales, then built up Bank Sales and later became responsible for all FX Sales in Germany and London.
In 2006 Peter also ran the Commodity Sales Project, which is now implemented in several teams at the company. After Commerzbank’s 2008 merger with Dresdner Bank he moved on to the eFX world.
Peter Hahn posted the following note today on social media.
After more than 45 years at #Commerzbank last week was my last day.
I’m very grateful for what my employer made possible for me. For a total of 5 years I worked in the Netherlands, USA and Luxembourg, was able to visit many countries and clients, was promoted and held management positions for many years. I traded spot, FX swaps and options, and in Sales I worked with all different professional client groups.
It has been a privilege to have met and worked with so many wonderful people over these years, but now it’s enough. In the near future I will do some travelling and spend a lot of time in Austria, Turkey and at the places where my children live. Or in the #Waldstadion watching #EintrachtFrankfurt . Later next year I will see where I can still make use of my knowledge and/or look for some social project.
