Exclusive: Capital.com Head of Sales MENA Chris Demetriou departs
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Chris Demetriou, Head of Sales for leading online brokerage group Capital.com for the MENA region, has left the company. Chris will apparently be taking on a C-Suite role at another as-yet-unnamed company.
Chris Demetriou joined Capital.com in Dubai early last year, and helped turn the MENA region into Capital.com’s largest operation (57% of total company volume in Q2 2026). This marked Chris’ second stint with Capital.com, where he previously worked in London from 2021-2023, as Head of UK Sales. Chris has also worked at CMC Markets as a Premium Client Manager; Onyx Capital Group as Head of Client Management for Onyx’s retail brokerage arm; as well as XTB, and ATA Research.
Capital.com CEO Middle East Tarik Chebib (pictured above with Chris) paid homage to Chris and his time at Capital.com in a LinkedIn post.
Lose 30kg or make $5m? Somehow he achieved both. It almost didn’t happen (took 6m to move him from London -> Dubai)
Yesterday was the end of a chapter. I said bye to one of the colleagues most loved in our office.
Christopher Demetriou weighed 125kg in January 2025 when he joined me for the second time at Capital.com. This time in Dubai.
4 years prior I hired him as the Head of Sales in the UK to build our first sales team.
This time his job was Head of Sales again. But he needed to scale the team without hiring humans.
He and his team figured out how to get 50 Ai agents calling. It resulted in $5m revenue in just over a year.
But what I’m most proud of is having been a small part in his transformational health journey. It was an easy bet. Get under 100kg by the end of the year or you’ll be on a one way ticket back to the UK. Somehow he took the bait.
Showed up 3x per week to basketball for 2h before work. Started lifting weights. Changed his eating habits and most importantly stopped going to the pub every night. He didn’t need to drink anymore just to get ahead in his career.
He feels better, looks better and his career is about to be go through the roof.
He will be a first time CEO.
He’s leaving us weighing 95kg.He’s getting married in a year. The new bet is that he can get a six pack for his wedding. This time I can’t threaten him with a ticket home, but I bet Rabih Abuhadra 1000 AED that he will do it. On his leaving due we showed him the future (see pics).
PS: Moving from the UK to the UAE changed his life in ways he never expected. Can’t wait to see what you’ll do next ❤️ (I’m most annoyed about not being able to open my office door and scream M….across the floor anymore).
