eToro risk management head Shir Shalom departs
FNG has learned that longtime eToro executive Shir Shalom has left her position as Head of Risk Management at the company. The move comes at an interesting time, when eToro is in the midst of going public on NASDAQ, although due to market conditions it looks like the eToro IPO is now somewhat delayed.
Shir Shalom had been with eToro since 2021, joining as Chief of Staff to eToro’s new COO Hedva Ber. In 2023 she was named Head of Risk Management – Financial, Operational, Technology, Models. Prior to her time at eToro, Shir worked at Accenture Israel as a Technology Consulting Manager, covering the Financial Services Industry. She also worked at KPMG Israel as a Senior CPA in the Financial Risk Management Consulting Department.
Shir posted the following note on social media regarding her departure from eToro.
After years of doing – executing and building – it’s time to say goodbye to eToro.
I had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Hedva Ber, Deputy CEO, as her right hand in leading the execution of strategic decisions and turning vision into action. Thank you, Hedva, for choosing me for this mission and for being a mentor.
I was also honored to work alongside Sharon Biran, Chief Risk Officer, in building the Risk Management function and helping ensure resilience in eToro’s dynamic financial landscape.
I was lucky to work with experienced and inspiring managers who inspired me a lot – Dr. Hadas Yonas, thank you especially for your guidance.
To my team: Thank you for your trust, dedication, and partnership.
eToro is a true innovator – leading in crypto, AI, and financial technology. I was privileged to collaborate with such talented people across functions and geographies and to learn from leading global practices. The experience has been invaluable.
I wish eToro continued success. Forever an eTorian.
