Australia Forex – IC’s Angus Walker moves to Global Prime, replaced by Nick Twidale
Some movement in the Retail FX sector down under….
FNG has learned that longtime IC Markets senior executive Angus Walker has left the company, joining rival Global Prime as its new General Manager.
IC Markets has added former Rakuten Australia COO Nick Twidale to replace Mr. Walker as General Manager.
Global Prime, a Sydney-based ASIC-licensed broker which also runs a Vanuatu offshore brokerage, was founded in 2012 by Jeremy Kinstlinger and former Citi executive Elan Bension. The two have been effectively running Global Prime together since its founding.
Angus Walker had been with IC Markets for the past 10 years, starting in 2010 in sales and working his way up the ladder as the broker grew to be among the top-3 Aussie FX and CFD brokers, becoming a director of the company in 2015 and General Manager in 2017, a role he kept until leaving IC Markets last summer.
FNG spoke with both Angus and Global Prime co-founder Jeremy Kinstlinger, here is what they each had to say:
Angus Walker:
“Global Prime is a great brand with a great story, and the type of ‘DNA’ that you read about in idealistic HBR articles. It’s a story that needs to be told. My initial goal is to give Global Prime the voice that it needs to achieve the scale that it deserves.”
Jeremy Kinstlinger:
“I’ve been looking for a wingman to help steer the retail side of Global Prime for a while now. There was really no one else in the industry that could have filled that spot apart from Angus. He’s already added so much value in such a short amount of time. It’s a pleasure to be working alongside him.
While many brokers focus on extracting as much yield as possible from their b-books, our focus has, and always will be, giving traders what they want and deserve through an A-book only dealing model. Closing the gap between what B-book brokers are able to do with risk management and marketing has been a focus since Angus joined. There are a number of projects being worked on in the background which should see Global Prime level the playing field.
Bringing on Angus has really helped to broaden our horizons. Elan and myself are able to focus on our strengths more, we’re innovating, growing, and enjoying ourselves while the company grows and scales effortlessly.”
