SIX welcomes AXA Investment Managers as new ETF issuer
SIX welcomes AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) as a new issuer of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Investors benefit from additional choice to diversify their portfolios thanks to three ETFs from the new issuer.
AXA IM is the 27th issuer of ETFs and the 10th issuer of active ETFs at SIX Swiss Exchange, one of Europe’s leading stock exchanges.
“Since the first ETF listings on our platform in September 2000, ETFs have evolved to become one of the most popular and disruptive product innovations in asset management. Supporting that development, SIX itself has developed into one of the top ETF listing destinations in Europe and as such we welcome AXA IM as a new ETF issuer on our exchange”, says Christian Reuss, Head SIX Swiss Exchange.
The three funds issued by AXA IM bring the total number of ETFs trading at SIX Swiss Exchange to 1’706 and the number of issuers to 27. Two of the three new AXA IM ETFs are classified as active ETFs, bringing their total to 62. More than a third of the ETF issuers at SIX Swiss Exchange offer actively managed ETFs.
Active ETFs have been available to investors at SIX Swiss Exchange since March 2014. While passive ETFs track the prices and returns of underlying indices, the composition of active ETFs is optimized on an ongoing basis by a portfolio manager to respond to market trends.
Trading turnover in ETFs at SIX Swiss Exchange accounted for CHF 15.5 billion in the first quarter of the current year, which is 8.4% more than in the previous quarter. Active ETFs trading turnover reached CHF 91.1 million in the first quarter of the year which translates into a growth of 195% compared to the previous quarter.
Assets invested in active ETFs increased 7.2% YTD globally and account for roughly CHF 470 billion, according to ETFGI, an independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs ecosystem. Year-to-date net inflows of roughly CHF 23 billion in 2023 are the second highest on record.
