LME makes LMEoptic application available to test
The London Metal Exchange (LME) has issued a notice on the availability of a new Member application called LMEoptic in the Member Test B (MTB) environment.
LMEoptic, an optional service, has been developed to provide Members with visibility and administrative control over their active electronic orders in the LMEselect trading platform, in the event of a loss of direct control via an ISV or Member’s proprietary trading system.
In addition to the visibility and control of active orders in LMEselect, LMEoptic will provide Members with the ability to view all executed trades for the current trading day.
LMEoptic will connect to the LMEselect trading platform utilising a Members’ LMEnet lines thereby providing resiliency should Members experience an outage or a loss of connectivity to the LMEselect FIX or Binary order entry gateways.
The initial release of LMEoptic focuses on supporting Member risk management functions and includes:
- A customisable web-based UI developed to allow Member users to sort and filter their active orders to quickly identify specific client or in-house electronic orders
- Real-time views for all active orders and executed trades for the current business day
- Direct order cancellation capabilities, permitting Members to remove unwanted electronic orders.
The use of LMEoptic is entirely optional for LMEselect Members. It is intended to be used as a business continuity application that complements existing systems by providing direct access to order management functions in the case of an emergency. As such, Members should not build any BAU processes that rely on LMEoptic.
LMEoptic does not support the placement, amendment or reinstatement of electronic orders in the LMEselect trading platform.
LMEoptic is not designed to replace the Kill Switch function available via LMEptrm.
LMEoptic displays all orders and trades from a Member (including all client DEA orders etc), as such Members should have appropriate information controls to ensure that only relevant people have access to this information, and that it is not used for inappropriate purposes.
The LME will be monitoring LMEoptic to ensure Members are using it appropriately.
LMEoptic is now available for Members to test in MTB. This environment will allow Members to explore and test LMEoptic functionality in preparation for the application’s go-live.
LMEoptic is scheduled to go live in the first quarter of 2026.
