JT Markets launches Trader Profile Index to help brokers decide A-book vs B-book
JT Markets, the retail and institutional broker services firm established by former iS Prime (now iSAM Securities) co-founder Jonathan Brewer, has announced the launch of the Trader Profile Index (TPI). TPI is a proprietary flow-scoring system designed to give brokers a clear, data-driven answer to one of the industry’s oldest questions: which clients should be warehoused, and which should be hedged.
For years, that decision has been made on instinct, incomplete data, or blanket policy – a relic of an industry-wide debate between “A-book” and “B-book” philosophies that has largely outlived its usefulness. TPI replaces the debate with data.
What TPI Does
TPI scores a broker’s entire client book on two dimensions:
- Percentile ranking — where each client falls relative to the rest of the book
- Absolute scoring — a standalone read on flow quality, independent of book composition
The result is a granular, defensible framework for A-book/B-book selection – client by client, not policy by policy.
Built for How Brokers Actually Trade Today
Unlike legacy scoring tools built around MT5 alone, TPI profiles any GUI clients as well as tags within API clients – a distinction that sets it apart in a market where algorithmic and API-driven flow is a growing share of volume most tools still can’t see clearly.
TPI is designed to slot directly into existing workflows. It can serve as:
- A lead indicator for a dealing desk making real-time book decisions, or
- A second pair of eyes – validating decisions a desk is already making
The Thinking Behind It
“I used to be an A-book evangelist,” said Jonny Brewer, Managing Partner, JT Markets. “There are still one or two of us left, but it’s a dying breed – in retail FX today, that’s a fight not worth having. The better strategy is helping brokers make sharper, more informed decisions about their own flow. That’s exactly what TPI does.”
Proven at Scale
TPI is grounded in rigorous quantitative analysis – built on large-scale flow data, tested against millions of trades, and validated through statistical modeling designed to separate signal from noise. Every scoring output is backed by measurable, repeatable methodology, not intuition.
Availability
TPI is available now as a standalone product, and included at no cost for brokers with a qualifying liquidity relationship with JT Markets. Interested brokers can contact JT Markets directly to learn more.
