Val Mathews to step down as ASX Chief Customer and Operating Officer
ASX Chief Customer and Operating Officer, Val Mathews will depart the Group in the coming months after announcing her intention to resign.
Val Mathews joined ASX in May 2019 and was appointed Chief Customer and Operating Officer (CCOO) in July 2021. Prior to her current role, Val was ASX Chief Operating Officer (2020-2021) and Executive General Manager of Operations (2019-2020).
Before joining ASX, Val Mathews was Chief Information Officer at QBE Australia and New Zealand, and Chief Information Officer at NRMA Insurance, IAG. She also has extensive domestic and international financial services experience, leading large customer and strategic transformation programs, business optimisation, customer experience and digital solutions.
She previously worked at ASX in the late 1990s and early 2000s. During this time she held various roles including General Manager, Market Integrity and Communications (2003-04) and General Manager, Technology Solutions (2004-06). Ms Mathews will continue to support ASX over the coming months as a transition plan is put in place.
To provide additional capacity and enterprise focus for delivery and regulatory programs in the near-term, ASX has appointed Diona Rae as Program Director, Delivery and Risk, in a newly created role.
