FCA warns of clone of social trading platform Darwinex
UK financial regulator The FCA has issued a warning regarding several websites (and the people behind them) which appear to be “clone sites” of FCA-licensed social and copy trading broker Darwinex.com. Darwinex is operated by Tradeslide Trading Tech Ltd.
The FCA stated that fraudsters are using the details of firms it authorises to try to convince people that they work for a genuine, authorised firm.
This is what is referred to as a ‘clone firm’; and fraudsters usually use this tactic when contacting people out of the blue, so traders should be especially wary if cold called. Fraudsters may use the name of the genuine firm, the ‘firm reference number’ (FRN) or other details, but then give out bogus contact info.
In this instance, fraudsters are using or giving out the following details as part of their tactics to scam people in the UK:
Darwinenc.com / Darwinexc.com (Website: http://www.darwinenc.com/, http://www.darwinexc.com/)
Be aware that scammers may give out other false details or mix these with some correct details of the registered firm. They may change contact details over time to new email addresses, telephone numbers or physical addresses.
This FCA authorised firm that fraudsters are claiming to work for has no association with the ‘clone firm’. It is authorised to offer, promote or sell services or products in the UK and its correct details are:
