Exclusive: XTX Markets co-CEO Hans Buehler resigns
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Hans Buehler, co-CEO of leading market maker and proprietary trading firm XTX Markets, has left the company. Hans has also stepped off the board of directors of XTX’s various corporate entities.
Hans Buehler – who effectively acted as close confidant and “#2” to XTX Markets founder and CEO Alex Gerko – first joined XTX in 2022 as Deputy CEO, and was named co-CEO to Mr. Gerko in 2023. During his time at XTX, the company has grown to become one of the most profitable financial firms in the UK, with Mr. Gerko now listed among the wealthiest residents of the UK, and one of its largest taxpayers.
Prior to joining XTX Markets, Hans spent 14 years at JP Morgan in Hong Kong and in London, holding a number of roles including Global Head of Equities Analytics, Automation, and Optimization. He had also worked previously at Deutsche Bank as Global Head of Equity Derivatives Quantitative Research. Hans holds a PhD in Financial Mathematics from Technische Universität Berlin.
FNG has learned from a spokesperson at XTX that Hans intends to head to academia. He had previously served as Visiting Professor at the Technical University of Munich, in his native Germany.
