FNG has learned that longtime CMC Markets executive Toby Morris has left the company.

Toby Morris had been with CMC Markets in London for 13 years, beginning as a Senior Sales Trader before being named Head of Sales Trading & Execution, a position he held at the UK based online trading provider since 2017. Prior to his time at CMC, Toby worked as a Sales Trader at rival IG Group for four years.

Wrapping up…

November marked the end of my time at CMC after almost 13 years.

Very proud of what we achieved in that time. From a standing start to building out a Sales Trading desk that became a benchmark for high-level execution service and client trust in our corner of the industry. Going from a narrow UK only equities coverage to a genuinely global, centralised, multi asset operation across cash, futures and multiple platforms/business lines.

Biggest call out my direct teams, past and present. A genuinely superb group of people to work with, who I know will continue to meet the high bar they have set going forwards. Thank you also to those across the wider firm who supported us along the way, no long list needed you know who you are.

As for what’s next…..coincidentally, we bought a “new” house at exactly the same time. One that apparently requires the combined skills of an electrician, plumber, carpenter, gardener, tree surgeon, and general fix-it person.

After a few early quotes, I’ve decided to appoint myself to all six roles. Nothing wakes you up quite like the sharp end of an axe or a gentle reminder from the electrics that you may have misjudged a wire.

Assuming I don’t do any permanent damage, it will be back to the drawing board in the new year to look at what comes next.
