Exclusive: eToro crypto head Tomer Niv resigns
FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that Tomer Niv, who helped make eToro a leader in retail crypto brokerage, is leaving the company.
Tomer Niv joined eToro in 2019 as Business Development Manager – Crypto, and helped establish eToroX, eToro’s professional crypto exchange, while also acting as business development manager for eToro’s crypto offering. In 2021 he was promoted to Director of Global Crypto Solutions for eToro, responsible for crypto business development activities such as listing new assets, and developing the company’s crypto strategy.
We understand that Tomer Niv will be joining an Israel based venture capital firm, to lead their crypto investments, following a brief hiatus after his formal departure from eToro later this month.
eToro is in the process of going public, via a merger with a SPAC, Fintech Acquisition Corp V (NASDAQ:FTCV).
Tomer Niv posted the following note today on social media regarding his move:
I’m about to drop the mic – this is my last month at eToro, and I’d like to thank all the eTorians for being part of my journey, and special thanks for the opportunity to Yoni Assia, Doron Rosenblum, Jonathan Dayan and Elad Lavi.
It was both a gift and an honor for me to lead the crypto strategy and business of such a successful enterprise. Looking back at our product offering growth in the past 3 years, I had the privilege to take part in major achievements such as listing many new cryptoassets, creating crypto smart portfolios, building eToroX exchange, strengthening our custody infrastructure, paving the way for crypto regulation and of course, exploring the metaverse and curating our NFT collection.
I will try to take the next two weeks off the grid in order to regain powers for my new adventures, where I’ll continue to advise and mentor crypto startups. More details soon 🙂
