SIX relaunches Sponsored Foreign Shares segment with FINOVESTA as Market Maker
SIX today announced it is relaunching the Sponsored Foreign Shares segment with FINOVESTA as Market Maker, enabling investors to trade more than 250 of the world’s leading companies directly on SIX Swiss Exchange.
In the Sponsored Foreign Shares segment, investors can now trade leading global blue-chip stocks directly on SIX Swiss Exchange – during Swiss trading hours and in Swiss Francs. This allows Swiss-based investors to diversify their portfolio while avoiding foreign exchange costs.
Gregor Braun, Head Cash Market Sales, Exchanges, SIX commented:
“The Sponsored Foreign Shares segment is part of our initiatives to make trading on SIX Swiss Exchange more attractive for retail investors. Boosting their participation is crucial to further enhance market liquidity in Switzerland. A retail investor who manages his portfolio himself and uses one of the common online trading platforms can now conveniently buy global shares during his usual trading hours in Swiss francs on SIX Swiss Exchange.”
Currently, over 250 securities can be traded in the Sponsored Foreign Shares segment. The list includes some of the most prominent and high-profile tech companies in the world, such as Alphabet (Google), Apple, Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft and Meta. The securities which are primary listed on major international exchanges are selected and admitted for trading on SIX Swiss Exchange by the Sponsor.
At the relaunch of the segment, FINOVESTA acts as the first Sponsor and Market Maker, providing continuous liquidity. This enables investors to trade during Swiss trading hours even when the home markets are closed and respond quickly to global news or market movements.
Dominik Heuer, Managing Director, FINOVESTA GmbH, added:
“We are pleased to relaunch this segment on SIX Swiss Exchange and offer Swiss-based investors new and convenient diversification options by providing an attractive securities universe.”
In the Sponsored Foreign Shares segment, all securities are traded in Swiss Francs, while US securities can additionally be traded in US Dollars. This allows Swiss investors to participate in international markets while avoiding unnecessary foreign exchange costs. To access the segment, investors need to ensure their order is routed to SIX Swiss Exchange.
